COVID-19

Teaching Staff Preparedness/Safety

  • Teachers will be provided with PPE, including clear and non-clear face masks for use at all times while inside the building.

  • Teachers will have access to gloves and sanitiser at all times, as well as cleaning supplies.

  • Teachers will have received training materials from DOH, DOE and DOSD on operating safely during COVID.

School visitors/facility usage

  • Only essential visitors will be allowed at Harvest Seedlings Pre-school. Any visitor will undergo a health screening before entry.

Hygiene/personal safety during school

  • Students will wash their hands before/after activities, before/after eating, and at the end of the day before dismissal. If any activity lasts longer than 45 minutes, there will be a sanitizing break at the 45 min mark.

  • Health check-ins will take place mid-day and in the afternoon for full-day students. This will include symptom check-in and temperature check-in. If a child shows symptoms of any illness, he/she will be isolated in the school sickroom, which is our safe space for children until their parent/caregiver arrives to collect their child within one hour of receiving communication from the school.

  • Each class will have a designated toilet(s) for use in all cases unless not available. Toilets and bathroom surfaces (sinks) will be cleaned throughout the day.

Snack/Lunch

  • Students will bring lunch (12:00) from home and will bring a water bottle daily.

  • Snacks will be provided at 10:00 and 14:30.

Rest

  • For full-day students, there will be a rest time following lunch. Rest mats will be assigned by the student and stored separately. Students will rest 1m apart from each other, head-to-toe.

School sanitary protocols

  • High-touch areas will be cleaned throughout the day, as will all classroom surfaces.

  • Shared spaces will be cleaned between-group usage and not used until the proper amount of time has been given for proper disinfecting (i.e. climber outside, gymnastics equipment).

  • Daily professional cleaning will take place after school.

Ventilation

  • All windows and doors to private exterior spaces will be left ajar for airflow. This may mean chillier classrooms, so please send your child to school with extra layers.

Daily Activities

  • We will implement distancing whenever appropriate, like during meeting time, storytime, or individual activities.

  • There will be flexible seating in the classroom. Students will have spots, table seating, lap seating, and/or desk seating. This will not be assigned permanent classroom seating. All surfaces/areas will be sanitized between use.

  • It will not always be possible to adhere to 1m social distancing.

Specials (Music, Ballet and Soccer ) and Trips

  • Music will take place once weekly and appropriate distancing will be maintained at all times.

  • Soccer may look a little different this year and will include a variety of physical education and sports activities.

  • Field Trips/short trips will be suspended until further notice. Students will only leave the facility for exit drills.
